So if you’re a beginner affiliate marketer or intermediate affiliate marketer then this post is for you.

Further if you really want to know that what to look for in affiliate products before promoting it then this post is for you.

Really this step comes second in affiliate marketing when first you have chosen your profitable niche or profitable market.

So if you seriously want to make money online by promoting affiliate product then you have to carefully choose a great affiliate product to promote that makes you real money.

But, here point is that how do you come to know that affiliate product/offer is a right product to promote?

So here are my 13 points to consider before choosing any affiliate offer/product to promote.

1. Sales Page

Before choosing any affiliate products to promote, first check out the sales page of affiliate product keeping in mind that whether this sales page is going to convert.

So here are some questions that you must ask from yourself before selecting affiliate products to promote!

Does the sales page of affiliate product appeal to you?

Does the copy of sales page convince to you?

Does the product on the sales page offer the great value or solution to the biggest problem of your market or client in your profitable niche?

Does the sales page of affiliate product provide any Money Back Guarantee or Trial Offer?

Are any testimonials or social proofs on the sales page?

Is the sales page having clear Call To Action (more than 3 times is better)?

Does the sales page optimize for mobile platform?

So if your answers of above asked questions come in big Yes then it’s a good product to promote as an affiliate.

2. Recurring Commission

Always find the affiliate product to promote that pays monthly recurring commission.

Really in affiliate marketing it’s a good strategy to promote such types of affiliate products.

Because you work hard for once to get the sale of affiliate product that pays monthly recurring commission.

And then you get paid every month till the customer remains subscriber of your affiliate product.

3. Highest Commission

Yes, without any doubt your affiliate product must pay highest commission.

If there is a commission around 30% to 70% then it’s a good product to promote.

4. Commission on Backend Products

Your affiliate product/affiliate program/company you’re going to promote must have back-end products except front-end product.

Mean to say, before selecting any affiliate product/affiliate program/company to promote, you must check their back-end products too.

As it is always good practice to promote the affiliate product/affiliate program that not only pays commission on front-end product sale but also pays commission on every back-end sale.

5. Customer Support

Yes, this is very-2 important that your affiliate product must have excellent customer support.

You might have seen a lot of time customer complaining about their purchased product that they don’t have great customer support, their support staffs sucks etc.

According to me it’s a customer support that makes a product or company great.

Just to check the whether customer support of your affiliate product is good or not you can send an email or call directly to your affiliate product’s customer support asking some questions.

And if you find some instant satisfactory answers then it’s a good affiliate product to product.

It means that they care about their customer’s problem.

So, always check before promoting or selecting any affiliate product that your affiliate product has excellent support or not.

6. Demand

Check whether your affiliate product has great demand in the market?

If you find yes there is a great demand of your affiliate product in the market then yes it’s a good product to promote as an affiliate.

7. Competition

Competition is always a good thing! It shows that the market is hot and that people are buying.

Many Gurus or Expert will say that select a product that has less competition.

But here I would say go for product or choose a product to promote that has great competition.

Because when a product has great competition then it is a clear indication that product is in demand.

Also check whether there is a lot of affiliate competition?

Even find whether there are other affiliates that who are making money by promoting this particular affiliate product in your niche?

So if you find that there are other affiliates who are making money by promoting the affiliate product then there are great chances that you can also make money by promoting this affiliate product which has great competition.

Believe it or not, the more affiliates promoting the offer, the better.

8. Great Value

Again this is very-2 important to note that your affiliate product must provide great value to your market.

I mean the product you’re going to promote as an affiliate must solve the problem of your market/client.

On the other hand, if you promote the product that doesn’t provide great value then nobody is going to buy your product.

So overall, your affiliate product must provide the offered benefits to your market/customer.

9. Product Creator

Again important to note that always check out who is the product creator?

Mean to say find out who has created the product?

Or who is the founder of product?

If possible know the backgrounds and experiences of product’s owner.

Know what face value they have in the market place?

Know what Goodwill they have in the market place?

If you ask me then I would say that I always promote for good and genuine people only who really wants to help people.

So always promote the product of those marketers who have good reputation in the market.

10. Checkout the Keywords

Here I would say that search out the product related keywords to make sure that there are a lot of solid search terms.

Every market or product has terms and phrases that people are actively seeking out on every day basis.

So what you can do here?

You can go to Google and find out whether there are any terms, keywords and phrases related to your product that you’re going to promote.

Below you can see an example how to search out on Google where I searched about Clickfunnels.

In above said example you can see I have typed the word i.e. Cickfunnels in the Google search bar.

And you can see there are lot of terms and phrases related this i.e. Clickfunnels product which clearly indicates me that people are searching for this product.

And yes, when you find the keywords, terms and phrases related to your affiliate product then it also helps you to create your ad copy for Google Adwords or Facebook PPC.

No doubt that all of the data related to your affiliate product is very important.

But at the same time, it is equally important to know that what your market/client thinks of the affiliate product that you’re going to promote.

11. Product Review

Find out are there any reviews or testimonials related to your affiliate product that you’re going to promote?

What people/customers are saying about your affiliate product?

Tell me would you promote or sell any product that others don’t like.

Of course! Not!

But if people who have bought it are raving fans of about your affiliate product then it’s a great indicator that you will make lots money selling or promoting this particular affiliate product.

12. Conversion Rate

Ok, if you don’t know what is conversion rate then don’t worry let I tell you in short about Conversion rate.

Simply, conversion rate is the percentage of visitors who take a Specific action on a website or a sales page or a squeeze page or a landing page.

Specific action can be anything like how many sales you have made on your website?

How many subscribers/leads you have got on landing page or optin page?

How many visitors you have got on landing page, sales page or squeeze page etc.?

Here my mean from Conversion rate is to know the percentage of visitors who purchased the products (which I am going to promote) from a sales page.

Below, you can see the formula to calculate the Sales Conversion Rate.

Conversion Rate = Total Number of Sales / Number of Unique Visitors X 100. 

For example, if you made 30 sales in a month and you had 1,000 unique visitors to your website then your conversion rate would be 3%.

So, Yes, I would highly recommend you to know the Sales Conversion Rate about your affiliate product.

And to know conversion rate you can ask directly from product’s owner or affiliate manager of product’s owner.

In normal routine if an affiliate product has anything more than 10% conversion rates then it’s a good affiliate product to promote.

13. EPC (Earning Per Click)

This is another metric that you must know before promoting any affiliate product.

Ok, if you don’t know what is earning per click (EPC) in affiliate marketing then let I tell you in short about EPC.

EPC is a metric that is used to know the average earnings per click.

For example, if you received a commission of $200 by sending 100 clicks to an affiliate offer, then EPC would be $2.

Below you can see formula for calculating EPC.

Earnings / Number of Clicks

$200 (Earnings)/100 (Number of Clicks) = $2 EPC

Still confused?

Ok! Just to better understand about EPC meaning in Affiliate Marketing, let I give you another example.

Suppose you’re an affiliate and you’re promoting two affiliate products i.e. A & B.

And out of which for every sale of product A, you make commission $45 and for every sale of product B, you make commission $50.

So, in that case, it is very easy to understand that affiliate product B with the $50 commission is a better affiliate offer to promote.

However, here let I show you how EPC helps you to determine which affiliate offer is better to promote.

As by promoting the affiliate offer A with the $45 commission you made 100 sales out of 600 clicks on your affiliate offer or unique affiliate link.

And you by promoting the affiliate product A earned $4500 commission ($45 X 100) and the EPC comes out to be $7.50 ($4500 commission/600 clicks).

And further by promoting affiliate offer B with the $50 commission you made 70 sales with a total of 600 clicks on your affiliate offer or unique affiliate link.

Now here by promoting affiliate offer B you earned $3500 commission ($50 X 70) and the EPC for the affiliate offer B comes out to be $5.83 ($3500/600).

So, in the above example, affiliate offer A has an EPC of $7.50 whereas affiliate offer B has an EPC of $5.83.

It shows that an affiliate offer B with a higher payout i.e. $50 is not always a better option to promote.

As you can see, in the above example that you earned more $1.67 per click ($7.50 – $5.83) when compared to affiliate offer B with extra commission of $1000.

Important to Note: Click means a click on your unique affiliate link.

It is a perfect way to determine which offer performs better with different payouts.

And you can also ask about EPC rate directly from the product’s owner or affiliate manager of product’s owner.

So without any doubt a good EPC of a product helps you to find out high earning offers which are converting better.

Yes, one more thing knowing your affiliate product’s EPC alone cannot be the reason to calculate the actual profit.

But you have to also consider the cost per click to calculate the actual profit in your affiliate campaigns.

Below you can see how to calculate the net profit per click:

Net profit per click = EPC (earnings per click) – CPC (cost per click)

So, if your EPC is more than the cost per click then you are really making money with profit.

Important to Note: In normal routine, if EPC of any affiliate product is more than $1 then it’s a good affiliate product to promote.

That’s it.

Ok, now you might be thinking, these all above said steps are going to take a lot of your time, but that’s not true at all!

According to me choosing right product to promote is one of the most important parts in affiliate marketing.

Why?

Because if you choose a wrong affiliate product to promote then you’re not going to make any money.

And when you don’t make any money by promoting the affiliate product then you will be frustrated.

And most probably, you will go in depression and finally you will leave the idea to make money online in affiliate marketing saying it doesn’t work.

Or you may say everything is a scam or spam etc.

So here I would say that this is not the case.

To be very honest if you follow the steps which I am telling you are not going to take you more than 30 minutes to select a right affiliate product to promote to make money online.
